MGF Engine Access

It is a mystery to new owners, but in fact quite simple.   For major servicing, the engine is accessed via the shelf behind the seats.  The rear of the hood folds up to enable this.  Here’s what to do:

Remove the trim on the shelf behind the seats.   It is just tucked into place so there is nothing to undo.    Once removed, you will be able to see a set of over-centre clips which hold down the rear of the hood.

Unclip these and the back of the hood folds up and out of the way.  Some people like to release the clips and raise the hood first, then remove the trim.

Once this is done, remove the steel panel covering the engine.

And that’s it!
